non-surgical advanced face and body skin tightening resurface

Morpheus8 is a state-of-the-art non-surgical advanced face and body skin tightening, skin resurfacing and fat remodelling system that combines deep fractional radiofrequency (RF) with microneedling. It has been approved by the FDA in the United States as a Subdermal Adipose Remodelling Device (SARD), with the potential to sculpt or remodel the deeper tissue and fat under the skin while also improving the overlying skin quality and complexion. Consequently, Morpheus8 can provide several benefits at different layers of the skin and deeper soft tissue. On a superficial level, it stimulates collagen production, reduces fine lines and wrinkles, improves skin texture, reduces uneven skin tone and improves the appearance of certain types of acne scarring. On a deeper level, it can help tighten the skin and connective tissue layer as well as remodel the fat to address areas of loose skin on the face and around the eyes, such as jowls and festoons, as well as on the neck, and body. For more advanced skin laxity, Morpheus8 is particularly beneficial when combined with our FaceTite or BodyTite systems, achieving an even more profound and long-lasting skin tightening effect.

TREATMENT OVERVIEW

work How does Morpheus8 work?

Morpheus8 is a fractional bipolar RF device, which means that controlled ablative RF energy are delivered through pins to resurface the skin and remodel the fat and soft tissue. In contrast, the untreated areas in between the pins act as regeneration points for faster healing of the treatment site. The 24 coated microneedling pins are programmable with adjustable penetration depth and energy delivery, allowing different layers of the skin and underlying fat and soft tissue to be treated in parallel. As the RF energy passes into the skin and soft tissue, it creates precisely controlled localised heat damage that stimulates biological repair systems as well as fat, connective tissue and blood vessel ablation, coagulation and tissue contraction. Similarly, the pins create tiny precisely spaced puncture wounds that stimulate a variety of biological processes, including collagen production. Consequently, through the combination of the fractional RF and the microneedling action of the adjustable pins,  Morpheus8 can be used to treat a broad range of ageing-related changes that would normally require multiple different technologies and devices.

Although there are several other similar devices currently available, Morpehus8 delivers RF energy and microneedling at a significantly deeper level (4mm with heating depth up to 6mm) targeting not only the skin but also the underlying fat and connective tissue layer. Consequently, it has been approved by the FDA in the United States as a Subdermal Adipose Remodelling Device (SARD), with the potential to sculpt or remodel the deeper tissue fat under the skin while also improving the overlying skin texture and complexion. Due to the special design of the Morpheus8 applicator, the energy delivered through the pins is extremely uniform with little to no thermal damage to the dermis, unlike many other radiofrequency microneedling devices. Consequently, it is safe to use on all skin types including Fitzpatrick skin type VI (dark skin) with minimal risk of post-inflammatory pigmentation, which is relatively common with other ablative skin resurfacing methods including CO2 lasers.

icon-calendar How Many Morpheus 8 Treatments would I need?

While some patients only require a single treatment, most patients will see further improvement with 2-3  sessions, spaced approximately 4-6 weeks apart. During your consultation with Dr Rhobaye, an assessment will be made of the condition of your skin, including tone, texture, overall complexion and degree of laxity and a recommendation of the number of sessions needed will be given.

icon-needle Is Microneedling With Radiofrequency Painful?

We always endeavour to make sure that treatments are as comfortable as they can be. We use prescription-strength topical anaesthetic applied to the skin before treatment to   Microneedling with radiofrequency is conducted after a topical anaesthetic has been applied to the skin to reduce the heat sensations from the radio frequency to a milder level. The topical anaesthetic also significantly reduces or eliminates discomfort from the microneedles passing over the skin.

stages Are There Any Side Effects After Treatment With Morpheus 8?

Morpheus 8 is a minimally-invasive treatment that may result in transient redness and swelling. Occasionally, there may also be temporary bruising, particularly when treating the skin around the eyes. The microneedling pins of the Morpheus8 adaptor may leave tiny puncture points on the skin that bleed slightly, later forming a crust before flaking off. There may also be some mild tenderness or soreness following treatment that is well managed with over-the-counter pain medication. More serious side effects are very uncommon to rare but may include an allergic reaction to the anaesthesia, skin blistering (usually only seen in smokers), infection and skin burn. There are several built-in safety mechanisms, however, within the device that greatly limit the risk of complications.

icon-eye How quickly will I see results?

Visible results can be seen within 7-14 days after the treatment. However, results continue to improve up to 3-6 months after that as new collagen is formed, and the optimal degree of tissue remodelling occurs.

icon-heart What kind of post-procedure care is required?

Make-up should be avoided for the first 24-48 hours following treatment to reduce the risk of infection. You should also refrain from touching the skin as far as possible for 12 hours. After 24 hours, we advise that you apply a light skin hydrator with barrier protection (which is supplied by the clinic) to the treatment area and avoid direct sun exposure.
